A fatal accident occurred on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Mile 40 along the Buipe–Kintampo highway in Ghana, resulting in two deaths and six injuries.
The crash involved a Kia truck loaded with groundnuts and an empty trailer. According to eyewitness reports, the trailer—traveling from Bolgatanga to Kumasi—attempted to overtake the Kia truck. In the process, the two vehicles collided, causing the truck, which was carrying eight passengers, to veer off the road.
Emergency responders from the Buipe Fire Station arrived swiftly at the scene and managed to rescue six injured passengers. They were transported to the Buipe District Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. Unfortunately, two passengers were pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident was confirmed by the Public Relations Officer of the Savannah Regional Fire Service, DOII Salisu M. Sirilbaini, in a statement to Citi News on Thursday, August 21.
