The Ghana Police Service has assured residents of Akwatia that the military will only be deployed during the upcoming by-election if the situation demands it.
Addressing the media on the issue, the Director General of Operations, COP Vance Baba Gariba, stated that although the military will be on standby, they will not be actively involved unless a critical security need arises.
“The military will only be on standby. If the need arises, we will request their deployment. If not, they will remain on standby,” COP Gariba emphasized.
He encouraged the public to remain peaceful and participate actively in the election, assuring them of full security protection throughout the process.
“I want to reassure all the good people of Akwatia to come out in their numbers and exercise their franchise. The Ghana Police Service will guarantee their safety and security during this period,” he said.
The Police also reiterated their preparedness to maintain law and order in collaboration with other security agencies, highlighting their commitment to ensuring a peaceful, transparent, and incident-free electoral process.
