"You're Not Self-Made – Government Contracts Made You Rich": Lawyer Martin Kpebu Challenges Kennedy Agyapong
Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has challenged business mogul and politician Kennedy Agyapong’s long-held claim of being a self-made millionaire.
Speaking in a recent media interview, Kpebu argued that Agyapong’s wealth did not stem solely from personal enterprise but was largely built on government-awarded contracts. He suggested that if ordinary Ghanaians were given similar access to such opportunities, many could also achieve financial success.
“He says he’s self-made, but Kennedy Agyapong got rich through government contracts,” Kpebu stated. “Let him show us exactly how he made his money. If any Ghanaian had access to those kinds of deals, they could also become wealthy.”
Kpebu went on to call for fresh leadership within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), urging the party to look beyond figures like Agyapong. He believes the NPP should prioritize younger, more dynamic candidates.
“The party should consider people like Patrick Boamah or Kojo Oppong Nkrumah. If Dr. Bawumia remains in the race, he should think about running with a younger Muslim candidate. Bawumia isn’t marketable—his performance has been disappointing,” Kpebu added.
His comments come at a time when internal debates about the future direction of the NPP are intensifying, particularly as the party prepares for upcoming elections.
