Enugu, Nigeria – The Enugu State Police Command has arrested 18-year-old Obodoagu Ikediekpere Wisdom for the alleged kidnapping and murder of his five-year-old second cousin, also named Obodoagu Wisdom.
According to a press statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, a second suspect, 24-year-old Sunday Michael—an Adamawa State native and security guard at 9th Mile—was also arrested in connection with the crime. The arrests were made on August 11 and 12, 2025, by officers of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Tactical Squad following intelligence reports triggered by a ransom demand.
The child was first reported missing on July 26, 2025. Investigations revealed that Obodoagu Ikediekpere Wisdom, the prime suspect, orchestrated the abduction and used his accomplice to contact the child’s father with a ransom demand of ₦1,000,000 (approximately GHS 7,000), attempting to conceal his identity.
When the ransom was not paid, the suspect allegedly murdered the young boy and buried his body in a bush near their home in Okinitor, Amankwo Ngwo, located in the Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State.
During interrogation, both suspects reportedly confessed to the crime. The lead suspect then guided officers to the location where the victim’s body was buried. The remains were exhumed in the presence of medical professionals, including a doctor who officially confirmed the child’s death.
Police investigations are ongoing, and the suspects are expected to face prosecution.
