Premier League leaders Arsenal extended their impressive run of form with a 2–0 victory over Burnley, making it nine consecutive wins in all competitions and stretching their lead at the top of the table to seven points.
Goals from Viktor Gyökeres and Declan Rice sealed the Gunners’ fifth straight Premier League victory, with Mikel Arteta’s men now looking increasingly confident in their title charge — even though they have played a game more than some of their rivals.
Burnley, who had come into the clash on the back of two wins, struggled to cope with Arsenal’s intensity. The visitors broke the deadlock through Gyökeres, who fired home from close range after Rice’s precise corner delivery.
Burnley goalkeeper Martin Dubravka kept the home side in the game with a brilliant one-handed save to deny Bukayo Saka, while Leandro Trossard saw his effort cleared off the line.
Before halftime, Arsenal doubled their advantage when Rice rose highest to head in Trossard’s perfectly chipped cross.
The hosts pushed forward after the break and came close to reducing the deficit when Florentino Luís headed narrowly over, before Marcus Edwards struck the post from a late free-kick.
Despite Burnley’s late efforts, Arsenal saw out the match comfortably — claiming their eighth win in ten league outings.
The result leaves Burnley 17th, just four points above the relegation zone, while Arsenal continue their dominant run at the summit.
