Member of Parliament for Bantama, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye, has sharply criticized the government over the poor condition of the Metro Mass Transit system at Abrepo Junction in the Ashanti Region.
Speaking in Parliament on Thursday, Hon. Asenso-Boakye demanded answers from the Minister for Transport regarding concrete measures to revitalize the struggling transport network, enhance operational efficiency, and improve access for commuters who depend on the service daily.
The Bantama legislator, in a post shared on his official Facebook page, described his parliamentary inquiry as part of his commitment to accountability and responsible governance.
“We cannot ignore the challenges facing our public transport system. The people of Bantama and Kumasi deserve better,” he stated.
Political analysts have interpreted Asenso-Boakye’s comments as a strategic move to hold the executive accountable, particularly at a time when concerns about the Metro Mass Transit’s performance have drawn national attention.
The Transport Minister’s formal response to Parliament is expected in the coming days, with residents and commuters eagerly awaiting assurances of concrete action to restore the once-reliable bus service.
