Former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has reaffirmed that his decision to enter politics was driven by a passion to improve lives, not to amass personal wealth.
Speaking during his campaign tour of Amenfi West in the Western Region on Saturday, Dr. Bawumia emphasized that his political philosophy is built on service, integrity, and prudent resource management.
“I entered politics to serve the people, not to enrich myself,” he said.
Citing one of his notable achievements, Dr. Bawumia referenced the Mobile Money Interoperability project, explaining that under the previous government, the initiative was to cost $1.2 billion. However, under his guidance, the same project was completed for just $4.5 million, saving the nation significant resources.
“This project has created thousands of jobs and made life easier for millions of Ghanaians. These are the kinds of results that bring me joy — not personal gain,” he added.
Dr. Bawumia further appealed to NPP delegates nationwide to unite behind his vision of innovation, transparency, and inclusive growth as the party prepares for the 2028 general elections.
“My greatest fulfillment comes from seeing how our policies are transforming lives across Ghana. I’m not in politics for money; I’m in it to make a difference,” he emphasized.
