She Should Face Questions, Not Ask Them – A Plus Criticizes Abena Osei-Asare

Outspoken politician and social commentator Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has accused Abena Osei-Asare, Member of Parliament for Atiwa East and Chairperson of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC), of hypocrisy.

In a social media post sighted by MyNewsGh, A Plus argued that the committee chair lacks the moral authority to question others on issues of accountability, alleging that she previously benefited from controversial government contracts.

According to him, Abena Osei-Asare’s past conduct and associations should disqualify her from presiding over transparency and oversight hearings.

“This same woman, not too long ago, was seen on live television passionately defending the then Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Rev. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, when he refused to disclose his age,” A Plus stated.

He went on to reference several high-profile government deals currently under investigation, including the Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) revenue assurance contract, the ECG–Beijing Jao loss-reduction agreement, and the Health Ministry’s ambulance procurement contract.

“The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) is currently probing the validity of the SML contract and its financial implications for the nation,” he noted, adding that “investigators are also examining whether due processes were followed in the ECG contract.”

A Plus said he finds it deeply ironic that someone allegedly involved in questionable deals is now demanding accountability from others in public.

“Her demeanor at committee hearings is not bravery; it is hypocrisy cloaked in authority,” he declared. “Her position questioning state officials live on television transcends irony—it is a national disgrace.”

The Gomoa Central MP concluded that Abena Osei-Asare should be answering questions before the Public Accounts Committee, not asking them.
