A Plus Questions Abena Osei-Asare’s Moral Authority to Lead the Public Accounts Committee

 

Gomoa Central Member of Parliament, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has strongly criticized the leadership of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC), questioning the moral authority of its chairperson, Abena Osei-Asare, to interrogate government officials on issues of accountability.

According to A Plus, the committee lacks credibility as long as it is chaired by someone who, he claims, served at the center of one of Ghana’s most financially mismanaged administrations.

“The Public Accounts Committee of Parliament is currently led by a former deputy of Ken Ofori-Atta, Abena Osei-Asare,” he said in a post sighted by MyNewsGh.
“Let me go straight to the point — it lacks both credibility and moral authority for Abena Osei-Asare to question anyone in this country. It doesn’t take the law to realize this; it takes the fear of God.”

He argued that individuals who played key roles in the previous administration, which he accused of economic mismanagement and controversial financial dealings, should not be presiding over accountability hearings involving appointees of President John Dramani Mahama’s new government.

“How can any serious nation allow this individual to question appointees of President Mahama, who have been in office for less than a year,” he asked, “when she and her superior spent nearly a decade driving the country toward financial chaos?”

A Plus also referenced ongoing investigations into contracts signed under the leadership of Abena Osei-Asare’s former boss, suggesting that her position creates an ethical conflict.

“These are not just rumors — these are active investigations,” he emphasized. “What moral framework allows her to question others on accountability?”

He further urged Ghana’s leadership to prioritize integrity and godliness in public service, insisting that moral credibility must guide those who hold oversight positions.
