Ghanaian actress and social media personality Akuapem Poloo has made a surprising confession about how she initially gained attention in the entertainment industry.
Speaking candidly in a recent interview, Poloo revealed that she deliberately engineered her early online controversies. According to her, she paid individuals to insult her on social media in order to stay in the spotlight and increase her popularity.
“Yes, I paid people to insult me,” she admitted. “Back then, the more people talked about me—even if it was negative—the more attention I got. I didn’t mind the insults because it was all part of the plan to trend.”
This revelation sheds new light on her previously controversial public image. For years, Akuapem Poloo was a frequent target of online criticism and gossip, often trending for the wrong reasons. While many assumed her actions were spontaneous or attention-seeking, it now appears some of it was strategically orchestrated.
Despite the backlash she received during those years, Poloo claims she was satisfied with the outcome, as the insults and media buzz helped elevate her brand.
“While people were busy being offended, I was happy—because I got what I wanted: attention,” she added.
Now, Poloo says she has turned over a new leaf, focusing on personal growth, motherhood, and positive influence. Recently, she also made headlines after welcoming a baby girl.
