Edward Nana Yaw Koranteng, former Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF), was intercepted at Kotoka International Airport on the night of July 29, 2025, while attempting to leave the country in violation of his bail conditions.
Koranteng, who is currently under enquiry bail as part of an ongoing investigation by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), allegedly tried to board an international flight without obtaining the required approval from the OSP — a clear breach of his bail agreement.
Unaware that he had been placed on the Ghana Immigration Service's “stop list”, he was flagged during routine security checks and detained immediately.
“He didn’t resist. He looked surprised, but the officers were calm and professional,” a source at the airport disclosed.
The OSP was quickly notified and has since taken custody of Mr. Koranteng for further interrogation and legal processing.
While the specifics of the case remain confidential, the enforcement of a travel restriction signals the gravity of the allegations under investigation. The OSP is expected to release an official statement in the coming days.
