Ghanaian rap heavyweight Michael Owusu Addo, widely known as Sarkodie, has paid a moving tribute following the passing of Highlife legend Daddy Lumba.
In an emotional Instagram post, Sarkodie shared his shock and sadness, calling the news difficult to process. He described Daddy Lumba’s death as a personal blow, mourning not just a national icon but someone who had a deep emotional connection with him.
“Only if I had the words to express how I’ve been feeling since early morning, but I don’t,” Sarkodie wrote. “We will all go back to the Maker one day, but sometimes it’s hard to even entertain the thought when it involves people close to your heart.”
He went on to express gratitude for the veteran musician’s groundbreaking contributions to Ghanaian music, acknowledging Daddy Lumba as a pioneer who opened doors for countless artists, including himself.
“RIP DL!!! Thanks for all you have done for us… the legacy lives on. Condolences to the family. I pray for strength,” he added.
