Monday, July 21, 2025, officers from the Tema Regional Police Command shot and killed three suspected armed robbers during a confrontation at the Tema Industrial Area. The incident followed a distress call from a warehouse reportedly under attack.
In an official statement, police said they responded swiftly to reports of a robbery in progress. Upon reaching the scene, officers encountered approximately ten armed men attempting to break into the warehouse.
A violent exchange of gunfire erupted between the suspects and the responding patrol team. Three of the assailants were fatally wounded during the shootout and were later confirmed dead. The remaining robbers, some possibly injured, fled the scene and are currently on the run.
Police recovered several weapons at the scene, including:
- A Bruni Mod foreign pistol
- A locally made double-barreled pistol
- Eleven live BB rounds of ammunition
A manhunt is now underway to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects. The bodies of the deceased have been sent to the Police Hospital Morgue for preservation and further examination.
The Ghana Police Service has reaffirmed its commitment to public safety and urged citizens to report any suspicious activity that could assist in locating the remaining robbers.
