Ghanaian actor and filmmaker, Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lilwin, has voiced his frustration with the family of the late legendary musician, Daddy Lumba, over a scheduling conflict between the musician’s vigil and the premiere of his upcoming movie.
In a video circulating on social media, Lilwin expressed disappointment that Daddy Lumba’s family has scheduled the musician’s vigil for August 2nd—the same date Lilwin had already set for the premiere of his new film. He believes the clash could negatively impact the turnout for his event.
“I had already communicated my movie premiere for that date. I feel very disappointed that such a significant event like a vigil for Daddy Lumba is now happening on the same night,” Lilwin stated in the video.
The actor’s remarks have stirred mixed reactions online, especially after a controversial comment he made suggesting that due to Daddy Lumba’s alleged lifestyle, his funeral should be designated as a “free sex day”—a statement many have deemed disrespectful and inappropriate.
The veteran highlife legend, Daddy Lumba, who passed away recently, remains an iconic figure in Ghana’s music industry. Tributes continue to pour in, while preparations for his final rites move forward.
Lilwin, known for his comedic roles and outspoken nature, has recently been in the spotlight for comments that have sparked public debate. This latest statement adds to the growing list of controversies surrounding the actor in recent weeks.
