Ghanaian passport holders can now travel to four additional countries without requiring a visa, following the ratification of four visa waiver agreements by Ghana’s Parliament. The agreements, which were presented by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, cover São Tomé and Príncipe, Colombia, the Commonwealth of Dominica, and Mozambique.
In a public statement shared on social media, Hon. Ablakwa expressed his appreciation to Parliament for the unanimous approval, emphasizing that these developments form part of a broader strategy to elevate the global status of the Ghanaian passport.
“I am grateful to Parliament for unanimously ratifying four Visa Waiver Agreements which I presented earlier this week,” Ablakwa wrote. “Visas are no longer required by Ghanaians to travel to São Tomé and Príncipe, Colombia, the Commonwealth of Dominica, and Mozambique.”
He further highlighted that this development brings the total number of ratified visa waiver agreements to five so far this year, including an earlier agreement with Morocco.
According to the Minister, additional negotiations are underway to secure similar arrangements with more countries. He underscored the government's commitment to making the Ghanaian passport one of the most respected travel documents globally.
“We are also investing in enhanced security protocols to ensure that international criminal networks do not gain access to our passports,” he added. “We shall continue to work in your best interest. For God and Country.”
This move aligns with the government’s broader diplomatic agenda to strengthen Ghana’s global mobility and international relations.
