A Nigerian woman has shared a heartbreaking account of how complications during her third pregnancy led to temporary blindness and the tragic loss of her baby. The woman, known on TikTok as @mrs.temishe, detailed the traumatic experience in a video that has since garnered widespread attention and sympathy.
According to her narration, the ordeal began when she was admitted to the hospital due to dangerously high blood sugar levels. While under medical care, she began experiencing intense migraines on the right side of her head and around one eye. The situation worsened as she gradually lost her sense of smell and, eventually, her vision.
"I was pregnant with my third child and was admitted due to very high blood sugar," she recalled. "I began to experience severe migraines and facial pain. I was then referred to an eye hospital. Eventually, I lost my sense of smell and couldn’t perceive anything."
She revealed that she was scheduled for surgery, but what she encountered in the operating room shocked her. "The first thing I saw in the theatre was a generator. That’s when I realized how dire the situation was."
Although she was discharged after the procedure, she soon experienced further complications, including bleeding at home. She was rushed back to the hospital where she had initially received care. There, she received devastating news: her baby no longer had a heartbeat.
Mrs. Temishe believes the outcome could have been different if medical personnel had acted more promptly and if better facilities were available. She explained that her temporary blindness was hormone-related and noted that such complications could occur in any pregnancy if not properly monitored and treated.
Her story has sparked emotional reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing condolences and anger over the state of the country's healthcare system.
