Woman Accuses Husband of Neglecting Family to Focus on Sports Betting

A Nigerian woman has publicly accused her husband of neglecting his responsibilities as a father and husband due to his obsession with sports betting.

In a video posted on her TikTok account, @ceozinnythrift, the woman claims her husband has abandoned all financial and emotional responsibilities, leaving her to care for their children alone. She alleges that instead of supporting his family, he spends his time analyzing football matches and placing bets.

“My children are solely my responsibility,” she stated in the video. “He doesn’t care—he just keeps betting. His family sees nothing wrong with it.”

According to her, the husband's relatives have failed to intervene or hold him accountable, instead enabling his behavior.

The video, which has since gone viral, triggered widespread reactions on social media. Many users criticized the man's actions and expressed concern over the lack of accountability from his family.

Here are some of the notable reactions:

  • Amaka Ezike: “You didn’t know he was gambling or what?”
  • Eyon_Musk: “He is not a gambler but a sports analyst.”
  • Dave: “This is not betting. It’s the handwork of pool.”
  • COSIIGBOO 🇧🇪: “He’ll be winning but won’t tell you.”
  • Tony Ceejay: “His business is scattered all over the world.”
  • Ginika Emmanuel: “Nwemeh’s family used to be rich. I don’t know what happened. Their great-grandfathers were royalty. I’m surprised to see this generation broke.”
  • Zubby: “Madam, don’t throw away that book—it’s a sequence book.”
  • Benbond87: “But you’re also showing why a man might run from you.”

The woman’s story has sparked a larger conversation online about financial neglect in relationships and the growing impact of sports betting on family life in Nigeria.
