The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals for impersonating members of the Ghana Gold Board Taskforce and engaging in acts of extortion.
The suspects, identified as 40-year-old Foster Delord and 38-year-old Prince Worvi, claimed to be former military personnel. According to police reports, the duo had been visiting gold dealers while posing as officials from the Gold Board Taskforce, using this false identity to extort money from their victims.
Following a formal complaint, police apprehended the suspects. Items recovered from them include a pair of handcuffs, a canister of pepper spray, an electric shock device, a set of uniforms, and GHS 500 in cash.
The suspects have been arraigned before the Tarkwa Circuit Court and remanded into custody pending further investigation.
The Regional Police Command has advised the public to remain vigilant and request proper identification from individuals claiming to represent government agencies.
