The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has addressed growing public concerns about crime in Ghana, asserting that crime rates have actually decreased since he assumed office.
Speaking publicly for the first time following the recent death of the Kusasi Chief in Asawase, IGP Yohuno emphasized that, despite his relatively short tenure, significant strides have been made in enhancing public safety across the country.
"Crime has reduced," he stated confidently. "And in cases where it does occur, the suspects are swiftly arrested."
He highlighted the Ghana Police Service’s prompt response to all major criminal incidents reported since his appointment, reinforcing the Service’s commitment to maintaining law and order.
While acknowledging recent tragic events, including the death of the traditional leader, IGP Yohuno reassured the public that under his leadership, no crime would go unpunished.
His remarks come amid increased national discussion about security, fueled by recent incidents that have raised public concern and drawn media attention.
