American Woman Reunites with Ghanaian Father After 21-Year Separation

A deeply moving family reunion has touched hearts around the world, as 21-year-old American woman Camille Harold successfully located and reunited with her biological father, retired Ghanaian police officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Jordan Quaye.

Camille, who was adopted at birth in the United States, had long been searching for her origins. Her determination led her to Ghana, where renowned media personality Kofi Adoma played a pivotal role in helping trace her lineage. Camille’s emotional story, widely shared on social media, reached Janet — Mr. Quaye’s niece — who immediately recognized the details and contacted her uncle.

“My niece Janet woke me up early one morning and told me that a young woman was looking for a police officer named Jordan. Everything she described matched me,” Mr. Quaye recalled.

According to Mr. Quaye, Camille’s mother, Vida, moved to the U.S. while pregnant in the early 2000s. Despite his objections, she placed the child for adoption. “I had no choice but to sign the adoption papers, but I prayed every day that I would live to meet her one day,” he said, visibly emotional.

A DNA test, conducted in South Africa and Canada, confirmed with 99.99999% accuracy that Camille is indeed his daughter.

Overcome with emotion, Camille expressed her joy: “I’ve cried so much today. I’m just incredibly grateful to have finally found my father.” She also shared that inconsistencies in names had made it difficult to trace her biological mother.

Now retired, Mr. Quaye brought some levity to the reunion, joking, “If anyone disturbs you, I still have the power to arrest them — even through Interpol.”

Camille plans to visit Ghana soon, accompanied by her adoptive family, who are equally thrilled by the reunion. Mr. Quaye has also committed to helping her find her birth mother. “Whatever happened in the past, I forgive her. For Camille’s sake, I’ll do everything I can,” he said.
