Ghanaians Regret Voting for NDC – Dr. Bawumia Supporter Criticizes Government After Court Ruling

A vocal supporter of former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, popularly known as “Shortingo” or “8,” has stirred debate online after delivering a sharp rebuke of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government in a viral video.

In the self-recorded footage, Shortingo voiced her disappointment over a recent court ruling involving controversial media personality Kevin Taylor. She criticized the court’s decision to dismiss the case, describing it as “below the belt” and warning that the judgment could set a troubling precedent for future legal interpretations.

According to her, the court’s ruling effectively legitimizes Kevin Taylor’s past controversial statements, including remarks made against revered traditional leaders such as the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. She argued that such a decision sends the wrong message about accountability and public discourse under the current administration.

Shortingo also took aim at President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC, accusing them of failing to deliver on campaign promises. “Many Ghanaians regret voting for the NDC,” she stated, adding that the party's leadership has not lived up to the expectations of the electorate.

Her comments have sparked considerable discussion on social media, with opinions sharply divided. While some users praised her for speaking out, others criticized her for politicizing a legal matter and questioned the fairness of her assertions.

The controversy comes amid rising political tension in Ghana, with ongoing public discourse around governance, judicial independence, and freedom of speech becoming increasingly contentious.
