Inter Milan are working against the clock to finalize the signing of Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman from Atalanta before the end of July, according to a report from Football Italia.
The Serie A giants have ramped up negotiations for the 26-year-old following the rejection of their initial €40 million offer. Atalanta are reportedly holding firm on a €50 million valuation, but Inter are preparing a new and improved bid of €45 million in a bid to reach an agreement.
Sources close to the deal confirm that Lookman has already agreed personal terms with Inter, indicating his desire to make the move to the San Siro this summer. Talks between both clubs are expected to resume this week as Inter seek to close the gap in valuations and wrap up the transfer swiftly.
Despite interest from Serie A champions Napoli and Spain’s Atletico Madrid, Inter remain the frontrunners for the former RB Leipzig, Everton, and Leicester City forward.
Lookman had an impressive season with Atalanta, and his potential arrival would add further depth to Inter’s attacking options as they look to strengthen ahead of the new campaign.
