Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as Napo and a former Member of Parliament, is facing sharp criticism from a former loyalist who accuses him of neglect and broken promises.
The critic, who identifies himself as both a “macho man” and a blogger affiliated with the National Democratic Congress (NDC), claims that he and other supporters made considerable sacrifices to bolster Napo’s political rise. According to him, their commitment was rooted in loyalty and belief in Napo’s vision—not monetary gain.
He argued that without the physical and emotional support of individuals like himself, Napo might not have achieved political success or a seat in Ghana’s Parliament.
However, he expressed deep disappointment, alleging that once Napo rose to power, those who helped him were sidelined. Requests for jobs or financial support reportedly went unanswered.
“He didn’t teach us how to fish, nor did he fish for us,” the disgruntled supporter said, using the metaphor to emphasize what he sees as a complete lack of empowerment or assistance from Napo after he took office.
The emotional outburst didn’t stop with Napo. The man also directed his anger at the New Patriotic Party (NPP), voicing a broader sense of betrayal by the political establishment.
A video capturing his remarks has gone viral on social media, sparking a mix of reactions from the public.
