The National Theatre of Ghana will host a special event to commemorate the life and legacy of the late Mawuli Yao Semevo, recognizing his profound impact on the performing arts. The event, titled A Night to Remember Mawuli Yao Semevo, is scheduled for Thursday, March 27, at 6:30 p.m. at the National Theatre’s main auditorium.
Mawuli Semevo tragically passed away on Thursday, February 20, at Ridge Hospital, following injuries sustained in a fire incident. Renowned for his remarkable acting talent in both theater and film, Semevo featured in notable productions such as Harvest at 17, A Stab in the Dark, Escape of Love, Like Cotton Twines, and The Good Old Days: The Love of AA.
The tribute night will bring together prominent figures from Ghana’s arts and culture sector to celebrate Semevo’s enduring influence on the theatrical community. The evening will feature performances, heartfelt tributes, and storytelling sessions, honoring his lasting contributions to Ghana’s performing arts landscape.
