The National Security Secretariat has strongly denied accusations of theft following a raid on the residence of former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison, on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
In response to reports suggesting that operatives had stolen cash and jewelry from Dr. Addison’s home, National Security officials have clarified that no such items were removed during the operation. “We did not take any money or jewelry from Dr. Addison’s residence. We will, in due course, release a full inventory of the items that were retrieved during the search,” a source within National Security told 3News.com.
The operation, which took place at Dr. Addison’s Roman Ridge home, was conducted under a legitimate search warrant. Officials explained that the raid followed intelligence suggesting that the former governor was in possession of funds belonging to the central bank.
Additionally, National Security confirmed that they had accessed Dr. Addison’s CCTV system and removed the hard drive as part of standard investigative procedures. This step was taken to ensure a comprehensive examination of the events linked to their inquiry.
Despite the rumors circulating, security personnel maintain that no valuables were confiscated from the premises. The operation did result in the discovery of empty money storage boxes, though their relevance to the ongoing investigation remains undisclosed.
