Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr did not hold back after his team's seven-game winning streak came to a halt against the Denver Nuggets in San Francisco, describing the Warriors' performance as "awful."
The Nuggets, missing star center Nikola Jokic, claimed a 114-105 victory, with Aaron Gordon leading the way, scoring a season-high 38 points. This marked Gordon's highest points tally since joining Denver from the Orlando Magic in 2021.
“We played poorly right from the start and never found a rhythm, while they played great,” Kerr said post-game. “The right team won. We didn’t deserve anything. We were awful.”
In response, the Warriors had notable performances from Jimmy Butler III, who scored 23 points, and Stephen Curry, who added 20. Despite their efforts, the loss marked just their second defeat in 14 games.
Meanwhile, Russell Westbrook, the NBA's all-time leader in triple-doubles, registered his 203rd by posting 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 16 assists for the Los Angeles Lakers, who defeated the San Antonio Spurs 125-109.
The Lakers, still without the injured LeBron James, are now just behind the Nuggets in fourth place in the Western Conference. Austin Reaves led the Lakers with 30 points, while Luka Dončić contributed 21 points, 9 rebounds, and 14 assists.
In another thrilling game, the Houston Rockets overcame a 25-point deficit in the third quarter to defeat the Philadelphia 76ers 144-137 in overtime. This victory kept the Rockets in second place in the Western Conference.
The Minnesota Timberwolves also needed overtime to secure a 132-130 win against the Indiana Pacers, with Obi Toppin recording an impressive 34 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 assists.
In the East, the New York Knicks triumphed 116-95 over the Miami Heat to maintain third place, while the Detroit Pistons, after a dominant 127-81 win over the New Orleans Pelicans, moved into sixth.
