Theophilus Dzimega Jnr., a member of the NDC Communications Team, has addressed misconceptions bsurrounding the legal proceedings involving military officer Jakpa, asserting that Jakpa was released, not dismissed, from the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).
In an interview on GHOne TV, monitored by MyNewsGH, Dzimega criticized the politicization of legal cases, particularly those involving court rulings. He argued that judicial decisions should not be used as political tools to undermine individuals.
“While the High Court made one ruling, the Court of Appeal overturned it, stating that it was incorrect,” Dzimega noted. "In some jurisdictions, the court would have stated that the individual walks away as a 'clean man,' free from any stigma."
Dzimega further drew a parallel with a former finance minister, emphasizing that a court ruling should not automatically disqualify someone from assuming a position. “Just because the High Court made a ruling doesn’t mean a person is unqualified for a role like Finance Minister. They can still walk away clean,” he added.
In his final remarks, Dzimega reiterated that Jakpa’s status in the military was that of being released, not dismissed. “In the Army, Jakpa was released. He wasn’t dismissed,” he concluded.
