Sarah Adwoa Safo, the former Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, has been referred to the National Disciplinary Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) following her recent public comments regarding party affairs.
A statement issued by the NPP, signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, confirmed that Safo’s recent media appearances were in violation of the party’s established directives. The party expressed concern over her remarks made during interviews on various platforms, where she made damaging comments about party leadership.
The NPP maintains that her statements went against previous party directives, which had cautioned members against public discussions on internal matters that could cause division or foster disaffection within the party ranks.
These comments were seen as harmful to party unity and detrimental to ongoing efforts aimed at fortifying the NPP's foundation. Having previously held prominent roles, including MP, Deputy Majority Leader, and Minister of State, there were clear expectations that Safo would uphold the core values of discipline, loyalty, and unity that the NPP strongly advocates.
The statement also referenced Article 3(5) of the NPP Constitution, which emphasizes the responsibility of members to promote and protect the party’s reputation. In light of these breaches, the NPP has decided to refer the issue to its National Disciplinary Committee for further review and determination of the appropriate action.
