Fire Engulfs Akyem Kwabeng Apartment, Prompt Response Limits Damage

On Saturday, March 29, 2025, a destructive fire broke out at an apartment building in Akyem Kwabeng, Eastern Region, severely affecting the second floor. The fire, which started on the first floor of the multi-story structure, was swiftly controlled by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), preventing further harm to nearby properties and businesses.

The fire began around 8:30 AM, triggering an immediate response from the Anyinam Fire Station. According to a report on the GNFS's official Facebook page, the initial response team, led by LFM Brako, worked tirelessly to contain the blaze on the first floor. As the situation intensified, additional support was called in from the Bunso Fire Station, arriving around 9:30 AM, with ADO I Nyarko leading the reinforcements.

The firefighters’ coordinated efforts ultimately paid off, with the fire being fully extinguished by 11:30 AM after two hours of intense work. Fortunately, the damage was contained, and the ground-floor shops and adjacent apartments were spared from severe destruction.

While the fire caused significant loss of personal property and electronics, including valuable household items, no casualties or injuries were reported. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.
