The Ministry of the Interior has imposed a curfew on Binduri Township and its surrounding areas in the Upper East Region. The curfew, which is set to run from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, took effect on Monday, March 24, 2025.
A statement released regarding the curfew urged the Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, and the youth to remain calm and seek peaceful, non-violent solutions to the challenges they face. The statement read, "The Minister for the Interior, on the advice of the Upper East and North East Regional Security Councils and by Executive Instrument, has imposed a curfew on Binduri Township and its environs from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am effective Monday, March 24, 2025."
The government also imposed a strict ban on the possession of arms, ammunition, and offensive weapons within Binduri Township and its surroundings. Additionally, the wearing of smocks, riding of motorbikes, and any individuals found carrying weapons will face immediate arrest and prosecution.
