Two Arrested for Looting Amid Fire Outbreak at Adum PZ Market

On Friday, March 21, 2025, two individuals were apprehended for allegedly attempting to loot merchandise from shops ravaged by an early morning fire at Adum PZ Market in Kumasi’s Central Business District. The suspects were caught while trying to steal goods from businesses that were severely damaged by the blaze.

The fire, which started in a two-story building housing multiple businesses, quickly spread across the area, causing extensive damage. The fire erupted around 5 a.m. near the Blue Light Arena, close to Hello FM, and grew in intensity as firefighters worked to control the situation.

As firefighters battled the blaze, some opportunistic individuals tried to capitalize on the chaos by removing valuable items from the damaged stores. In response, both police and fire personnel were swiftly deployed to the scene to maintain order and prevent further looting.

With security measures now in place, officers remain on high alert to ensure public safety and discourage any further incidents. Due to limited access routes, the fire has continued to spread across the area for the past seven hours.
