A 13-year-old girl who had been missing for several days has been located, following a search initiated by her mother and supported by local leader Lawson Afisem and his team.
According to the girl’s mother, the teenager had requested permission to visit her father, as the parents are separated and living apart. The mother agreed, believing her daughter was heading to her father's residence. However, when she contacted her ex-husband two days later, he revealed that he had not seen the child.
Worried and distressed, the mother approached Lawson Afisem for assistance. A search was launched, and fortunately, the young girl was found safe. During questioning, the teenager revealed that she had not gone to her father’s house, but had instead gone to stay with her boyfriend, known only as “Baba.”
The girl admitted that she spent the entire weekend and the following days with Baba, engaging in inappropriate and unlawful conduct. This confession has sparked concern over the lack of supervision, and more importantly, the welfare and protection of the child.
It was also noted that the girl has a troubling behavioral history, including reportedly being physically aggressive toward her mother.
Authorities are expected to step in and investigate the situation further. The case raises important questions about child protection, parental responsibility, and the urgent need for social support systems to assist vulnerable families.
The Ghana Police Service and the Department of Social Welfare are encouraged to follow the case to put things in order. And now Ghana Police service and Social welfare are doing their best to make things work through.
