Ghanaian music sensation Black Sherif missed out on the Best International Act award at the 2025 BET Awards held on June 9, 2025.
The award went to Nigerian Afrobeat star Ayra Starr, who triumphed in a competitive category featuring top talents including Black Sherif (Ghana), Any Gabrielly (Brazil), Basky (UK), Ezra Collective (UK), Joé Dwèt Filé (France), MC Luanna (Brazil), Rema (Nigeria), SDM (France), Tyla (South Africa), and Uncle Waffles (Swaziland).
This marks another milestone in Ayra Starr’s rising global career. Since 2022, she has earned multiple nominations at the BET Awards, including Best New International Act (2022), Best International Act (2023), and BET Her Award (2024) for her hit song “Commas.”
In 2025, she received nods in several major categories — Best New Artist, Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, and Best International Act, ultimately taking home the latter.
