The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection has officially ended the contracts of all Regional and Zonal Coordinators under the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP), effective immediately.

The announcement, made by Gender Minister Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey on March 4, 2025, did not provide a specific reason for the abrupt decision. However, the minister expressed appreciation for the contributions made by the affected coordinators during their tenure.

A statement issued by the Ministry read: "Please be informed that the contracts of all Regional and Zonal Coordinators of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) are hereby terminated with immediate effect."

The terminated staff have been instructed to report to the GSFP Secretariat to receive their termination letters and complete the necessary handover procedures.

The GSFP, a vital government initiative aimed at providing free meals to schoolchildren, has played a crucial role in improving school enrollment, attendance, and nutrition. Despite its positive goals, the program has faced ongoing challenges, such as delays in funding, corruption allegations, and unpaid arrears owed to caterers.
