Ghanaian musician Quamina MP has addressed recent discussions surrounding Nigerian superstar Davido’s $5,000 donation to Ghanaian content creator Ananzo, urging the public not to label Ghanaian artistes as stingy in comparison.
In an interview with media personality Amansan Krakye, Quamina MP emphasized that musicians in Ghana also offer generous support—often more than what was publicly disclosed by Davido—but they choose not to publicize it.
“Davido giving Ananzo Official $5,000 doesn’t mean Ghanaian artistes are stingy, as some people might want to make it look,” Quamina MP remarked. “It’s very possible that a Ghanaian musician has given more than that amount, but decided to keep it private.”
He went on to stress that many artists support fans and individuals behind the scenes. “You never know how other Ghanaian artistes are supporting Ananzo privately with gifts and resources for promoting our music. Unless someone decides to make it public, people will never know.”
Quamina MP concluded by rejecting the idea that Ghanaian musicians are not generous. “I won’t say no Ghanaian musician has helped him. We just prefer to do it quietly rather than put it out there for attention.”
