On Wednesday, March 5, 2025, the residence of former Hohoe Member of Parliament, John Peter Amewu, was allegedly attacked by unidentified gunmen in what is being described as a politically charged incident.
Amewu, speaking to Citi News, shared that one of the assailants identified himself as a bailiff and claimed that their purpose was to serve him a legal notice. The intruder argued that Amewu had not been duly elected in the 2020 elections, thereby justifying their action. They further stated that the C.I. was not constitutional.
Reports suggest that the attackers also mentioned they were acting on "orders from above," although no formal confirmation has been provided regarding the nature or source of these instructions.
At the time of the attack, Amewu was not at home, but the situation escalated when the gunmen fired warning shots, leading to a confrontation with some of Amewu's supporters.
Authorities have yet to release information regarding the identities or motives of the attackers. An investigation into the incident is expected to shed more light on the events surrounding the attack.
