Authorities in Antoakrom, a town located in the Manso Nkwanta District of Ghana’s Ashanti Region, have arrested a man for public intoxication and unlawfully wearing a police uniform.
The suspect, identified as Osei Kwame and popularly known by the nickname "Nsafufoo," was caught on video visibly intoxicated while dressed in a police uniform. The footage, which quickly went viral on social media, shows Kwame being confronted by two men who accuse him of attempting to arrest them. In response, Kwame denies the claim, insisting he only wanted "something to smoke."
In a statement, the Ghana Police Service confirmed Kwame's arrest, stating that wearing a police uniform without authorization is a criminal offense and poses a threat to public trust and safety. Authorities have not yet disclosed how Kwame came into possession of the uniform, but investigations are currently underway.
Kwame is now in police custody and assisting with ongoing inquiries.
The incident has sparked widespread public concern about the misuse of official uniforms and the potential damage it can cause to the credibility of law enforcement institutions.
